Local 153 Proudly Endorses Brad Hoylman-Sigal for Manhattan Borough President

Local 153 proudly endorses Brad Hoylman-Sigal for Manhattan Borough President

Brad Hoylman-Sigal has spent the last decade fighting in the State Senate for a more affordable, safe, and fair New York. During his time in the Senate, he passed 363 bills focusing on a range of issues, including protecting tenants against eviction, cracking down on dangerous e-bikes, securing funding for mental health, eliminating illegal guns, and fighting bias crimes including antisemitism and anti-LGBTQ hate.

As Borough President, Brad will bring this same energy and effectiveness to tackle the toughest quality of life challenges for Manhattan’s working families, older New Yorkers, small businesses, and the most vulnerable members of our community while protecting our civil liberties from the Trump administration. As our borough faces challenges like we haven’t seen in decades, Brad is committed to working every day to deploy the resources of the Borough President to hold government and private actors accountable and improve the lives of all Manhattan residents.

As Borough President, Brad would continue his strong record of supporting labor and collective bargaining rights. He would bring stakeholders together to build a powerful coalition and ensure that labor always has a seat at the table and workers’ rights are strengthened and protected in Manhattan.

His campaign for Borough President has earned the support of key New York leaders including Congressmembers Jerry Nadler and Dan Goldman; former Borough Presidents Gale Brewer, C. Virginia Fields and Ruth Messinger; Senators Cordell Cleare, Robert Jackson and Brian Kavanagh; Assembly Members Deborah Glick, Micah Lasher, Grace Lee, Linda B. Rosenthal, Al Taylor and Tony Simone; Council Member Erik Bottcher; and Former Assembly Member Richard Gottfried.

Brad is a longtime grassroots activist, serving previously as a Democratic District Leader and three-term chair of Manhattan Community Board 2. He is the past president of the Gay and Lesbian Independent Democrats and a former board member of Tenants & Neighbors and Citizen Action.

Brad lives in Greenwich Village with his husband David and young daughters, Silvia and Lucy. Brad would make history as the first openly-LGBTQ official elected borough- or city-wide in NYC.
