Reproductive Rights Are Labor Rights.

OPEIU Local 153 stands with our members and all people struggling with today’s disastrous Supreme Court decision.

That we saw this decision coming does not lessen its impact, particularly for women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people of color, and poor and working class people who are all disproportionately affected by this attack on our rights and our humanity.

We recognize that this is just one step in a coordinated effort to dissolve the fundamental rights of families and working people in this country. This decision sets a dangerous precedent and we will need to be proactive and united to organize against what comes next. It is increasingly evident that working people cannot rely on the Supreme Court or our elected officials to protect the right to bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, and freedom to make decisions about our lives. OPEIU Local 153 reaffirms our commitment to fight for accessible and comprehensive health care that includes contraception and abortion, and allows all people to make their own decisions about their bodies and futures.

To our members: we are here for you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your fellow union members or union staff for support. Our strength comes from our solidarity, and we will get through this by coming together and showing up for each other today and every day.

We won’t go back!
