OPEIU Local 153 is proud to endorse Brian Romero for New York State Assembly District 34. Born and raised in Queens, Brian grew up in a working class, immigrant family. His life experiences have led him to be a champion for working class people and he fundamentally understands the issues facing union members across our city. Passionate about ensuring a living wage for all, he knows that we must organize more working people into the labor movement.

Dedicated to advancing an affordability agenda, Local 153 supports Brian because we know he will deliver for working people in the State Assembly. He is an activist, social worker, and legislative staffer. These experiences have shaped him to be an effective legislator in Albany.

Specifically, we are excited about his commitment to regulating AI and protecting jobs. Local 153 is concerned about the ways that the economy will continue to be transformed by AI and specifically about its impact on working people. There is a need to stop the catastrophic risk that AI poses to jobs and communities. It is clear that regulating AI is a top issue for Brian and for Local 153 members.

With the general election on November 3rd, we look forward to Brian being in the State Assembly. We will be continuing to partner with Brian to advance conversations and policies to protect jobs and regulate AI.
