OPEIU Local 153 is proud to endorse one of our own, Lydia Green, for New York State Assembly District 52. The champion we need in State Assembly, Lydia Green, is an OPEIU Local 153 member at the Worker’s Circle shop. At Worker’s Circle, Lydia stepped into her first unionized role of her career. She has firsthand experienced the transformative power of being a union member and wants all workers across her District and across our city to experience the transformative power of unions. 

We are proud to support Lydia, who alongside being a proud 153 union member, is a Democratic District Leader, progressive organizer, tenant, NYC public school graduate, and queer Jewish New Yorker. Lydia is running to tax the rich, build affordable homes, and protect our city from the climate crisis. Her platform also includes protecting our immigrant and LGBTQ communities, improving our public education system, and defending our democracy: policies that our 153 members care about deeply. She also was one of the first New York Democratic Party officials to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and is a champion of Palestinian liberation. As a lifelong New Yorker from a proud lineage of Jewish Brooklynites, Lydia has experienced firsthand the compounding challenges facing our city.

Lydia stands with her 153 union siblings in their fight for a dignified workplace and has exemplified the champion that workers deserve in the State Assembly. 153 knows that she will work tirelessly to make sure Brooklyn, and our city, is affordable and equitable.
